MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Memphis Express had a first game to forget.
The Alliance of American Football kicked off this weekend, with the Express traveling to Birmingham to take on the Iron.
Things didn't go well for the Express and quarterback Christian Hackenberg, who were unable to put up any points.
Hackenberg, a former 2nd-round draft pick in the NFL, couldn't get into a rhythm and finished with less than 100 yards passing and an interception. Brandon Silvers replaced him with the game out of reach and threw an interception on his only pass attempt.
Iron running back Trent Richardson had a big game with two scores.
Birmingham came away with the 26-0 blowout win.
Memphis will try to be better next time as they host the Arizona Hotshots at the Liberty Bowl on Saturday.
Arizona is 1-0 on the season after a 38-22 Sunday night win over Salt Lake.
That game will kick off at 7 p.m. and will air on NFL Network.
