MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Memphis Grizzlies are in a bit of a surge.
The Grizzlies have won three of their last four games despite shipping off franchise cornerstone Marc Gasol to Toronto at the trade deadline.
Saturday’s 99-90 win over New Orleans was the first game the new-look Grizzlies had a chance to be on the floor together.
C.J. Miles and Delon Wright, two of the three Raptors sent back to Memphis, played a role in the victory with a combined 20 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
“I liken this to my days in AAU where you just meet up with some fellas and you go play," Wright said. "No that I’m here, I want to learn with this team, take my time and be a good teammate.”
Veteran point guard Mike Conley is now the team leader with Gasol gone.
“I’m really anxious to see how we build as we go forward," Conley said. "We’ve got a small sample size, but as we get more practices in and get to learn each other more find what we’ve capable of doing and we go really go forward and do what we came here to do.”
Memphis will host the Spurs in their next bout against the Spurs on Tuesday night.
