MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A South Memphis man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being convicted of a 2016 murder.

A jury found 24-year-old Christopher Williams guilty of killing 39-year-old Anthony Beason. Beason was walking home from a neighborhood store when he was shot multiple times Sept. 4, 2016 near Essex Avenue and South Lauderdale Street.

The DA’s office says Williams confessed to the killing, saying he saw Beason and followed him, looking for a place to shoot him. The prosecutor also says he laughed during parts of his taped confession.

Williams has four other felony cases pending.
