PANOLA COUNTY, MS (WMC) - North Mississippi law enforcement has ended the search for a murder suspect out of Jackson after he was spotted Tuesday morning.
Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby said Marcell Martin, 41, was captured in Panola County after he led police on a chase and ran into the woods in Sardis.
WMC5 captured the dramatic moment Tuesday morning, as deputies from the Panola County Sheriff’s Office chased Martin through the woods.
It all started six hours earlier, when officers spotted a rental vehicle matching the description of the one Martin was last seen driving.

Martin is wanted for killing his wife, 48-year-old Varga McCray, on Valentine’s Day.
“He left his identification and a stolen gun inside the vehicle,” said Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby.
Several schools went on soft lock down as deputies fanned out looking for Martin.
They brought in K-9 officers and drones, But the cold, rainy weather made the search more challenging.
Finally, just before 10 a.m., a deputy spotted Martin near I-55, three miles from where he first disappeared.
After a brief chase, deputies arrested him.
Martin will be taken back to Jackson to face the murder charge.
In addition to the murder charge in Jackson, the Panola County D.A. said Martin will also likely be charged with felony evasion in Panola County.
