MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A Memphis woman is facing four felony indictments for the murder of her 2-year-old son.

A grand jury indicted Davida Wooden, 26, with first-degree murder in perpetration of aggravated child abuse, first-degree murder in perpetration of aggravated child neglect, aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect.

Prosecutors say paramedics responded to Wooden’s apartment in May 2018 because her son, 2-year-old Jaylen Dodson, was unresponsive when she tried to wake him up. The toddler was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner ruled Dodson’s death a homicide due to multiple blunt force injuries, including a lacerated liver and spleen; bruises to the arm, back, neck and head; and blunt force trauma to the brain.

Wooden is currently behind bars at the Shelby County Women’s Jail East.
