Police Chief: 1 dead, 1 in custody in Blytheville homicide

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - One person is in custody after a shooting Tuesday night in Blytheville left one person was dead.

According to Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson, the shooting happened in the 1200-block of Hearn Street.

In a news release issued on Wednesday, officers found Eric Bragg, 37, of Blytheville at the home and he was immediately detained by police.

Officers then found the body of 26-year-old Brittney Sims of Blytheville in an upstairs bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medical personnel who arrived on the scene were not able to revive Sims.

Bragg was taken to the Blytheville Police Department and charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by certain persons.

Thompson told Region 8 News on Tuesday that incident appeared to be a domestic situation.

Bragg was arraigned in Blytheville District Court on Wednesday where he was given a $500,000 bond.
