MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for much of the WMC Action News 5 coverage area through Saturday evening as another round of heavy rain and thunderstorms returns to the Mid-South.

Rain has returned and will remain in place overnight through Friday and overnight tomorrow night. A few storms are possible along with periods of heavy downpours. 2 to 3 inches of rain will be possible before ending Saturday night. This will fall on an already saturated ground which could lead to widespread flooding in the area.
THE WEEKEND: The Storm Prediction Center currently has an ENHANCED Risk of severe weather over the Mid-South Saturday. A cold front will move from west to east through the area during the day and early evening bringing the threat for severe storms producing damaging wind and isolated tornadoes. High temperatures will be near 70 with lows falling into the lower 40s behind the front. Sunday will become mostly sunny with afternoon highs in the mid 50s and overnight lows in the upper 30s.
NEXT WEEK: Monday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 50s and lows near 40. Tuesday will be partly cloudy with high temperatures in the upper 50s and lows in the upper 30s. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain along with highs in the lower 50s and overnight lows in the mid 30s. Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy along with highs in the upper 40s.
