Mayor signs deal to build 500-room hotel at Memphis Convention Center

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The mayor of the City of Memphis says he’s signed a letter of intent to bring Loews Hotel to the Bluff City.

The announcement is the first step in bringing a more than 500-room hotel to the Memphis Convention Center.

“This has been a long time coming, and having a world-renowned brand like Loews in Memphis is a huge win for our city," said Mayor Jim Strickland. "I look forward to seeing the finished project, and ready to get to work with our new partner.”

The 51-year-old Memphis Convention Center is being renovated with hopes to land bigger conventions.
