Raleigh community hopes for better public transit service

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Community members in Raleigh discussed public transit challenges in their area Tuesday night.

New City Councilman Sherman Greer held his first town hall meeting at Raleigh Community Center where city hall staff from multiple public utility companies were available for questions.

Citizens said they want to see better bus service.

"The goal is to try and get stops to where there's a bus every 15 minutes," Greer said. "A lot of complaints I've heard is it takes more than an hour and a half to get to some jobs. MATA was talking again how they're going to reduce that time."

Greer represents District 1 after filling the seat vacated by Bill Morrison, who is now the Probate Court Clark.

Greer also serves as administrator and athletics director at Southwest Tennessee Community College.
