SOUTHAVEN, MS (WMC) - Southaven police are investigating after a man was injured in a shooting Wednesday night.
Police said the shooting happened on Elmbrook Drive, near Rasco Road, around 8 p.m.
The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital by a private vehicle and was later transferred to Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Police said the man was injured after at least two shooters fired shots at each other--one from a car, and one from a porch.
Police Captain Mark Little said the injured person was near or in the car, but it’s unclear if he was one of the shooters.
“We know the individual was in or near the car that was shot. That car has been located so we’ll be processing it,” Little said. “We’re in the middle of trying to determine who was involved in this shooting.”
The victim’s name and age have not been released, but Little said the victim is a young man.
It was one of two shootings in DeSoto County on Wednesday night. Over in Hernando, a woman was found shot and killed.
