NASHVILLE, TN (WMC) - The 2019 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday night in Nashville!
There are several Mid-South athletes who could be drafted in the First Round.
Between Memphis, Ole Miss and Mississippi State, this NFL Draft is filled with stars from our coverage area.
At least eight players from those three schools are projected first or second round prospects.
Looking specifically at Memphis, the Tigers could have three players drafted this year which would be the first time that's happened since 2001.
Memphis Tigers running back Darrell Henderson looks to become the highest draft pick for the Tigers since Paxton Lynch was taken 26th overall in 2016 by the Denver Broncos.
Can it happen? There's an outside chance. While he's projected as a second or third round pick by many mock drafts, Henderson's agent, Leigh Steinberg, recently told 92.9 ESPN the Tiger All-American's draft range is between 27th overall to 35th.
The Tigers haven't had multiple players selected in back to back years since the 1993 and 1994 drafts. That could change this year.
Running back Tony Pollard is also expected to be drafted by an NFL team this year.
Also, don't count out the Tigers’ All-Conference Offensive Lineman Trevon Tate. He is projected as a seventh-round pick by some draft analysts, but others believe he could be selected earlier.
