OSCEOLA, AR (WMC) - A 2-year-old boy was shot and killed in Osceola, Arkansas Wednesday night.
The boy’s mother and her boyfriend have been arrested in connection with his death.
Officers were called to a home on Buckingham Street after 10 p.m. where they found Kei'Derrion Love. Neighbors say the toddler was shot in the head.
The child was rushed to the Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis but later died.
His grandmother Lanesa Love is desperate to find out what happened, and says she doesn't believe the story she's being told.
Love says her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend were arrested in connection with the toddler's death.
We are not naming the two because Osceola Police, the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office, nor Arkansas State Police could confirm their names or charges.
Love also says the alleged suspects told her that the boyfriend accidentally dropped his gun and it went off - shooting Kei’Derrion in the head.
When asked if she believes that that is what happened Love simply said "No."
The couple has another 5 month old child together.
Love says the boyfriend was not Kei’Derrion’s father.
She says the hardest part is not knowing what Kei’Darrion would have done with his life.
“He was the type of baby that always ran to you, ‘hey!’... oh my god... he was the type of baby... a happy baby,” Love said. “I felt he was more my child than a grandchild, and now my baby’s gone.”
Love says she’s now fighting for custody of her daughter’s other child.
Osceola Police would not offer any information on this case.
