MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A U.S. Marshal task force helped Memphis police and Shelby County deputies bring in a murder suspect.
The U.S. Marshal Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Team, Multi-Agency Gang Unit and Memphis Police Department Old Allen Task Force arrested 25-year-old Jerrahmiah Rankins around 7:30 a.m. Thursday near Peabody Avenue and Pauline Street.
Rankins is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and employing a firearm with intent to commit a felony and theft.
Records show a warrant for Rankins’ arrest was issued April 18, two days after a deadly shooting in Raleigh. According to an affidavit, Crishawn Pratcher was shot and killed and another man was shot in the hand while trying to sell a gun to Rankins near Egypt Central and Kerwin.
The affidavit says witnesses identified Rankins, who was previously convicted of second-degree murder in 2012.
Rankins was booked into the Shelby County Jail without bond.
