MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - One day before his scheduled Beale Street Musical Festival performance, Memphis rapper BlocBoy JB, or James Baker, was arrested.
He was booked on charges of being a felon possession of a handgun and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
When police searched his home they also found a murder suspect in Baker's attic.
Baker walked out of 201 Poplar with his attorneys, who had been working to get him released.
He is scheduled to perform at Memphis in May Music fest at 7:20 p.m.
“I feel good. I’m finnna go turnt up," said BlocBoy JB.
According to a police affidavit, Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies narcotics division discovered the rapper was hiding a man wanted for first degree murder.
Baker said he didn’t know Perry, but officers found him in Baker's attic.
Earlier today there were questions as to whether BlocBoy would be able to perform.
The music festival tweeted BlocBoy's performance was a go and that it would get crazy on the stage Friday night.
WMC Action News 5 asked the Memphis in May spokesperson about that tweet and the charges against BlocBoy.
He said he doesn't know enough about the charges to comment.
BlocBoy is due in court on these charges Monday morning.
