MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened downtown Sunday night.
The shooting took place at Beale Alley and Fourth Street while thousands of people were still downtown for Beale Street Music Festival.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police say Lontrell Carlton was driving recklessly in the area blocked off for pedestrians when he fired a gun backwards from the driver side window.
As he drove through a police barricade, he fled from officers that were trying to pull him over.
Another suspect, William Carlton, was in the passenger seat and is also accused of firing shots.
Police recovered two guns in the area -- one of them reported stolen out of Shelby County.
Lontrell is charged with reckless endangerment, evading arrest, and possessing a firearm during attempt to commit felony.
William is charged with recless endangerment and possessing a firearm during attempt to commit felony.
