COLLIERVILLE, TN (WMC) - Police in Collierville are trying to figure out what happened to a number of trees at a popular park.
Nine trees were damaged in the picnic grove area at W.C. Johnson Park. The trees are gashed and scarred and it’s not clear how it happened.
Police say the damage was so significant that park maintenance officials filed a police report.
Police say an arborist estimated it will cost more than $1,300 to try to revitalize the trees -- a cost they say will fall on Collierville taxpayers.
Anyone with information about the trees can call (901) 457-2520 or submit an anonymous tip by texting CPDTIP and your tip to 847411.
