MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - The Memphis Redbirds were in matinee action Monday against the Nashville Sounds at AutoZone Park.

Tommy Edman goes bombs away in the first inning. The solo home run part of a 3-5 day for Edman and puts the 'Birds on top 1-0.

Austin Gomber was dealing on the mound with a season-high 8 strikeouts in 7 strong innings. But, he gave up the gopher ball in the 5th inning. Chase d’Arnaud chased one out of the park with a man on for a 2-run homer. That tied the game at 3-0.

Then, with Gomber out of the game, the Sounds take advantage, adding two more runs on sac flies in the 8th and 9th to get the victory. Redbirds fall 5-3.

Same teams will play Tuesday. It’s another matinee game, with first pitch 11:05 a.m. Downtown at the Zone.
