5 Great Things: Therapy dog appears in yearbook, MEM hits new travel record

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Time to come up from the barbecue smoke for a few seconds, to look back at 5 Great Things that happened in the Mid-South this week.

Sammy Cooper is top dog at Lausanne Collegiate School. The adorable seventh grade therapy dog made it into this year’s school yearbook.

Junior scores perfect on ACT

St. Mary's Episcopal School junior and fencing champion Evie Oliver can add perfect ACT score to her list of accomplishments. She is one of only two young ladies at her school to earn a composite score of 36.

Former DeSoto Central Jaguar Austin Riley was called up to the Majors. With his very first at-bat for the Atlanta Braves, he knocked the ball into the center field seats.

Memphis International Airport tapped University of Memphis men's head basketball coach Penny Hardaway as its new spokesperson, replacing beloved Grizzly Tony Allen.

Speaking of Memphis International Airport. it had its busiest day for 2019 with 9,037 people going through the TSA checkpoint this month. It’s something that’s only happened 10 times since 2013.
