MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Penny Hardaway and the University of Memphis just landed another five-star basketball recruit.
Precious Achiuwa, ESPN's number 17 overall recruit, told ESPN that he is committing to Memphis.
A Twitter video from SportsCenter confirmed the announcement.
“I’ve decided to attend the University of Memphis because I trust Coach Penny (Hardaway), Coach Mike (Miller) and Coach Sam (Mitchell) and it feels like home. And I believe it’ll help me prepare for the next level,” Achiuwa said.
Achiuwa is a 6′9 forward out of Montverde Academy in Florida. He chose Memphis over UConn, Syracuse and Kansas. He played alongside fellow Memphis commit James Wiseman in the McDonald’s All-American Game in March.
Memphis is now out of scholarships to give, but has the top-ranked recruiting class for 2019.
