LOS ANGELES, Calif. (WMC) - Former Memphis Grizzlies Head Coach Lionel Hollins is heading to the Los Angeles to be an assistant coach with the Lakers.
Hollins will join the staff of new head coach Frank Vogel. Jason Kidd is also an assistant. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports the Lakers “have made it a priority” to hire coaches with head coaching Experience.
After Memphis, Hollins replaced Kidd as Head Coach at Brooklyn in 2014, taking the Nets to the playoffs. Hollins is the winningest Head coach in Grizzlies history, taking the team to the Western Confrence Finals in 2013. He was released after the season.
Hollins had expressed interest in the Grizzlies head coaching job, which is still vacant.
