MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A toddler has died after being shot Monday afternoon.
The Memphis Police Department is investigating the shooting that happened at a Frayser apartment complex on Pershing Park Drive.
The 4-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he later died.
Police say two toddlers were in a room playing alone when the shooting happened.
“My brother stays right around the corner. He heard it. I had dropped him off and we heard it. We saw the ambulance coming. It’s just got to stop.” Rodney Davis said.
He and his brother heard one shot.
One woman says a summer camp was going on in the apartment complex.
“I didn’t even know a child got shot. I’m just on my way to pick up mine up from summer camp,” she said.
Latrisha Readus was horrified.
“That’s so awful. It’s just crazy. Memphis is crazy. It’s like all this stuff happening in Memphis. It’s senseless,” she said.
