Across the Mid-South the heat index could be near or higher then 110 early this week. The intense heat is expected to remain through Tuesday. In the meantime, tonight muggy and a stray shower possible.

Tomorrow starts the stretch of dangerous heat in the Mid-South. Highs will climb into the lower 90s with heat index values over 105. Pop-up showers are possible due to the heat and humidity, but most remain dry. Lows, in the upper 70s Sunday night.
THE WEEK AHEAD: Dangerous Heat continues for Monday and Tuesday of next week. We are tracking afternoon highs to start the week in the middle to upper 90s with heat index values reaching near 110 or higher both days. Pop-up showers are possible, but most will remain dry, hot and steamy. Overnight lows to start the week will stay near 80 degrees. A cold front that will track across the area Wednesday will giveway to cooler temperatures. Rain chances will increase Tuesday night and Wednesday as the front approaches. Highs will be more tolerable near 90 for the remainder of the week but it will remain humid. Afternoon showers are possible to end the week with overnight lows remaining in the 70s .
