Lafayette County Schools remove corporal punishment from discipline policy

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Miss. (WMC) - Lafayette County Schools has removed corporal punishment from its discipline policy after voting in favor of it over the summer.

The punishment was erased from the district’s policy during a board meeting last week.

Assistant Superintendent Patrick Robinson requested the removal in June, saying corporal punishment was ineffective.

Corporal punishment is still is allowed under Mississippi law.
