MPD identifies body found in Mississippi River near Tom Lee Park

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis police say a body found in the Mississippi River last week was a man who was recently the focus of a City Watch.

On Monday, police identified the man as 28-year-old Ronald Ponce. His body was found floating in the water near Tom Lee Park Aug. 12.

MPD: Male body pulled from Mississippi River

In a July 31 City Watch, police said Ponce’s girlfriend said he texted her, threatening to harm himself.

Police say Ponce’s cause of death remains under investigation.
