MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Three people were arrested after a shooting that wounded a 7-year-old.
The shooting happened Tuesday night. Police said shots were fired into a home on Browning Avenue.
The 7-year-old was shot and rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Alexander Lewis, Jr., Malik Martin, and an unidentified 17-year-old were arrested. They all face charges of attempted first-degree murder and 13 counts of aggravated assault.
There were 13 people inside the home at the time of the shooting, including six children.
Investigators interviewed several individuals on the scene who said the suspect’s name was “AJ” and he was driving a Red Nissan
Officers with Memphis Police's multi-gang unit and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives identified "AJ" as Alexander Lewis.
They found him at a home in Southeast Memphis where they also located the Nissan used during the shooting.
Investigators executed a search warrant and found three high-powered rifles and several rounds of live ammunition.
While at the residence, officers also detained Malik Martin and two others.
Both Martin and Lewis admitted to participating in the shooting.
According to court records, Lewis has *no* previous criminal history.
Martin has had two previous misdemeanors for theft and aggravated assault.
Both of those cases were dismissed
