MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - It’s official -- the Kansas State Wildcats will play against the Navy Midshipmen in the 61st AutoZone Liberty Bowl.
AutoZone Liberty Bowl President Stever Ehrhart says it’s going to be a classic this year.
“We’re really excited to have the US Naval Academy, against the Kansas State Wildcats. Two great universities that have never played against each other in their long 100-year history," said Ehrhart. "So this is a great opportunity for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl to bring these two institutions together on the football field, and here in Memphis during the AutoZone Liberty Bowl week of activities. US Naval Academy played here 38 years ago back in 1981, and Kansas State was here four years ago, and they broke all the records on Beale Street, so we’re looking forward to a great match-up.”
The game is scheduled for Dec. 31 at 2:45 p.m. at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
