Memphis house fire blamed on lightning strike

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A house fire in the Cooper-Young neighborhood is being blamed on a lightning strike.

According to the Memphis Fire Department, the fire started around 10:30 a.m. Monday on Peabody Avenue near Cooper.

MFD says lightning hit the roof in the front of the structure, causing the fire. Luckily, no one was hurt.

The damage is estimated at $5,000.
