Family, friends pay final respects to influential minister

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Thousands said goodbye to one of the more influential ministers in Memphis Saturday.

Dr. Jonathan Rodgers died from heart failure after seven decades of ministry work.

As one of the youngest African-American ministers in Memphis, Dr. Rodgers started preaching in 1955 at the age of 15, building a following under massive tent crusades before eventually traveling the U.S. and many other countries.

Dr. Rodgers was 79 years old.
