His bond now stands at $2 million. Davis was arraigned in Claiborne County Sunday, Feb. 23rd.

Two other students were also injured in the shooting. One was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. There is no word on the condition of the other injured student.

Claiborne County Coroner JW Mallett said the shooting happened south of Port Gibson at a bonfire being held at The Ark, a hangout spot 13 miles north of campus off of Highway 61.

Authorities said a group of more than 20 people were at the bonfire when gunfire erupted.

“They were taken actually to Claiborne County Hospital via private vehicles where two of those males succumbed to their injuries,” said Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Troy Kimble. “And if anyone has any knowledge of anyone that may be associated with this we ask that they please contact us or if they want to remain anonymous to contact Crimestoppers at 601-355-TIPS."

The University was placed on lockdown immediately after the incident, announcing on Twitter at 7:25 a.m. that it had been lifted and campuses were open for normal business hours.

“My heart goes out because I worked there for 12 years as a police officer, and those students are dear to my heart,” said Sheriff Goods. “And so from this day forward we’re gonna put forth our best effort to bring those responsible to justice."
