MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - There is a new date for the World Golf Championship FedEx St. Jude Classic, courtesy of the coronavirus.
The PGA TOUR announced they are moving the tournament back to July 30 through August 2 at the TPC at Southwind.
It was originally set for July 2-5, but will now move back into the week formerly occupied by the Summer Olympics.
“I know the Memphis community is looking forward to hosting another FedEx St. Jude Invitational event, and the extra four weeks will go a long way in ensuring our No. 1 priority, the health and safety of all associated with the FedEx St. Jude Invitational and the Greater Memphis community,” said Executive Director Darrell Smith.
The 2020 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational brings in the top 50 golfers in the world, plus other tournament winners and money leaders.
Memphis has hosted a PGA TOUR event every year since 1958, and 2020 will mark Memphis’ second year hosting a World Golf Championships event.
