TDH reports an increase of 367 COVID-19 cases; state’s total climbs to more than 18,300

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. (WMC) - The Tennessee Department of Health has reported an increase of 367 confirmed COVID-19 cases and an addition of four deaths.

The states total hit 18,000 with a 623 cases surge Monday and as of Tuesday afternoon is now at 18,378 and 305 deaths statewide.

So far there have been nearly 1,500 hospitalizations and 10,969 Tennesseans have recovered from the virus.

Health officials have confirmed 3,877 coronavirus cases and 88 deaths across Shelby County. More than 346,123 tests have been administered state health officials work to make testing accessible.

Monday, the Shelby County Health Department confirmed 3,761 coronavirus cases and 85 deaths across Shelby County - an increase of 116 cases and three deaths in one day.

Officials said 65 percent of the county’s coronavirus cases have recovered.

The latest testing positivity rate is 5.1 percent in Shelby County. The testing positivity rate is the percentage of all tests conducted that are found to be positive.

Dozens of long-term care facilities across Shelby County have experienced coronavirus outbreaks/clusters.

More than 320 residents and staff have tested positive for the virus, 34 people have died. This does not include facilities with resolved investigations.
