More than 22,000 COVID-19 cases, 360 deaths reported in Tennessee

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. (WMC) - The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting more than 400 new cases of COVID-19 in Tennessee and four additional deaths.

There are now 22,085 total cases of the coronavirus including 360 deaths. And while more than 1,710 people have been hospitalized in connection to the virus, more than 14,900 Tennesseans have recovered from COVID-19.

TDH says there have been 421,967 people tested across the state.

Health officials have confirmed 4,793 coronavirus cases and 108 deaths across Shelby County.

Thursday evening, the Tennessee Department of Health reported 107 deaths and 4,703 cases in Shelby County -- two more deaths and 15 more cases than the Shelby County Health Department announced Thursday morning.

That brings the total increase to 90 cases and three deaths in one day.

SCHD officials report 70.5 percent of Shelby County’s cases have recovered.

More than 70,200 people have been tested for the coronavirus across Shelby County.

Wednesday, the Shelby County Health Dept. highlighted zip codes with the highest COVID-19 case rate by 100,000 population.

Nearly 350 residents and staff have tested positive for coronavirus at long-term care facilities in Shelby County, not including facilities with resolved outbreaks. So far, 43 people have died, including 13 at Quince Nursing and Rehab.

The Highlands of Memphis Health and Rehabilitation accounts for the majority of the cases with 66 residents and 25 staff members testing positive for the virus and five deaths.
