MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Tennessee Department of Health has identified more than 23,000 cases of COVID-19 in the state, as of Sunday.

State health officials have confirmed 23,006 cases and 364 coronavirus-related deaths.

More than 15,000 Tennesseans have recovered and 1,750 people have been hospitalized statewide.

Shelby County’s coronavirus case count has surpassed 5,000 after more than 73,000 tests have been administered across the county.

TDH reported 5,003 confirmed coronavirus cases and 109 deaths in Shelby County -- an increase of 65 cases since the Shelby County Health Department gave an update Sunday morning.

So far, 3,442 people in Shelby County have recovered from the virus.

Wednesday, the Shelby County Health Dept. highlighted zip codes with the highest COVID-19 case rate by 100,000 population.

Nearly 350 residents and staff have tested positive for coronavirus at long-term care facilities in Shelby County, not including facilities with resolved outbreaks. So far, 43 people have died, including 13 at Quince Nursing and Rehab.

The Highlands of Memphis Health and Rehabilitation accounts for the majority of the cases with 66 residents and 25 staff members testing positive for the virus and five deaths.
