MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - We’ve got a border-state matchup in the SEC this Saturday as resurgent Arkansas hosts struggling Tennessee.
The Hogs Sam Pittman being mentioned in SEC Coach of the Year talk for making some quick strides with the Razorbacks in his first year at the helm. Both teams are two and three, but Arkansas is showing much more upside than the Vols this year.
The Hogs defense is rated first in the SEC in turnover margin. On offense, they’re led by Feleipe Franks, the Florida transfer coming off a Texas A&M game where he threw for a score and rushed for 93 yards.
That’s the most by a QB at Arkansas since 2004. Pittman said he’s focusing on the Vols experience at quarterback with Jarrett Guarantano. Plus, the UT running game featuring former Lausanne Star Eric Gray who leads the Vols in rushing.
“Really good back in Gray,” Pittman said. “Actually, they have two with him and Chandler, and Guarantino is a veteran guy. Played in 39 games there at QB. Palmer, one of their elite receivers, they have along with Jones and Keaton. On defense, they’re an SEC looking defense.”
Kick-off Saturday 6:30 pm.on SEC Network.
