SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. (WMC) - The Shelby County election administrator has said all votes could be counted by midnight if things go as planned.

While other states may have to wait until midnight or later, everything is going according to plan in Shelby County. The flash drives which contain the absentee ballot numbers are being run through the computers now.

The final votes from the 166 precincts in the county are being tabulated. about 78% of the vote has been counted so far.

The vote today was low but early voting was huge making all the difference.

That’s a testament to the early voting process. I advocate the early voting process," said Shelby County Election Commissioner Bennie Smith. “We do have a way to alleviate so many people in such a large county because we are a large county. And having 14 days of people being able to vote. We stretched the hours, we kept all the sites open and that allowed that bottleneck to kind of clear.”

We’ll bring you the final results as they come in.
