Covington High forfeits playoff game due to COVID-19 cases ‘across the region’
COVINGTON, Tenn. (WMC) - Covington High School released a statement saying they will forfeit Friday’s playoff game. School officials said the “recent rise in coronavirus cases across the region and the necessary travel and proximity of players” has forced the team to forfeit.
According to a Facebook post on the school’s page, participating in the game “would not be in the best interest of the health of our students, staff, their families, and our community.”
The Covington High Chargers added that the coaching staff has diligently followed health and safety guidelines and it’s unfortunate that the decision had to be made.
