OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (WMC) - The coronavirus has canceled another event in the Mid-South. The Olive Branch Christmas parade has been canceled this year, according to the Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

The parade was originally scheduled for December 5. Local leaders decided to cancel the parade after COVID-19 cases continue to rise and Mississippi governor Tate Reeves extended a mask mandate until December 11.

Local high school bands performing Christmas music and last year’s Christmas parade will still be broadcasted on local Channel 19, OBliveTV.com, and the Olive Branch Chamber Facebook page.
