MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Investigators with the Tennessee Comptroller’s Divison have reached a powerful milestone. According to a news release, investigators from the division have unveiled $25.8 million in fraud, waste, and abuse across the state of Tennessee.
Within that time, 218 reports have been published, which resulted in 131 indictments on 819 separate counts.
Officials with the Comptroller’s Divison investigate fraudulent activity within state and local government entities, along with private funds under certain circumstances.
Since 2016, the Comptroller’s Divison has opened investigations in 79 of Tennessee’s 95 counties.
