MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County Schools’ sixth annual Operation Warm Hearts coat drive benefitting families in need this Giving Tuesday.

The school district is preparing to welcome students back to in-person learning at the top of the new year and a new coat could make all the difference for students walking to and from school or those who wait at bus stops.

Last year’s donations totaled more than $20,000 in coats, winter accessories and monetary donations.

If you are interested in donating, the drive-thru event will be happening until 6 p.m. Tuesday in front of the SCS Board of Education. Donations can also be made through CashApp -- send to “$SupportSCS” for “Warm Hearts” and online at https://ignite.schoolseed.org/warmhearts.

SCS says all donations will go to SchoolSeed to purchase more warm clothing for students.
