Memphis club that held large party closing temporarily as authorities investigate
COVID-19 concerns surrounds holiday weekend party

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A club in east Memphis is closing its doors after hosting a large party last weekend.

The guests were mostly unmasks and packed into a tent at In Love Memphis on Winchester Saturday evening.

The club announced Wednesday on social media they would close effective immediately until Dec. 17 “due to the recent circumstances surrounding Saturday’s event.”

“The health and safety of both our guests and team is our top priority,” reads the statement.

WMC viewers shared images and video of the party showing only some attendees wearing masks and no social distancing inside the tent.

Earlier Wednesday, Grizzlies’ star Ja Morant admitted to being at the party and said he should’ve worn a mask.

The Shelby County Health Department is investigating while health officials warns it could turn into a super-spreader event.

SCHD Director Dr. Alisa Haushalter said Wednesday she was “disappointed” it wasn’t shut down.
