ARLINGTON, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County deputies are on the scene of a double shooting in Arlington where one person was fatally shot and another is in the hospital in critical condition.
Investigators arrived on the scene of the shooting at 6:15 p.m. at Airline Road and Highway 70 and blocked off a nearby gas station and bank to keep people away. Loved ones of the victim gathered across the street.
Deputies had to keep one very emotional woman back; we could hear her crying out that her nephew is dead.
The shots were fired outside a McDonald’s. Arlington Mayor Mike Wissman heard the gunfire.
“I was outside at Townhall about to enter a meeting when we heard the shots,” said Wissman. “It’s an unfortunate incident and we pray for all those involved. I’m very pleased with the response from the SCSO, SC ambulance in Arlington fire. We had an incredible presence to the scene within a couple minutes.”
Shelby County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information on the case to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
