Suspect charged with attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping after shooting in Frayser

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A woman is facing several felony charges connected to a shooting in Frayser on Dec. 21.

According to an affidavit, 27-year-old Jacquelyn Long shot her girlfriend two times, once in the face, after getting into an argument.

Long then allegedly forced her into a vehicle and attempted to leave the neighborhood when officers were arriving.

The victim grabbed the gun and fell out of the vehicle while holding her 3-month-old child. The affidavit says Long attempted to strike the victim with the vehicle before leaving the scene.

Police say they found the woman lying in the street on Semple Avenue, wounded while holding her child. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Long was later located at Methodist North Hospital and taken into custody.

Long is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of especially aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
