Police: Suspect hits MPD officer with car early Wednesday morning

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A suspect is on the run after police said he hit an officer with his car on Lamar Avenue.

Police were trying to ID a suspect on Lamar Avenue around 1:55 Monday morning. Officials said the suspect put his vehicle in reverse and hit an officer with his door.

The suspect fled the scene in a red Fusion with a missing rear bumper. The suspect was wearing a white shirt and black pants.

MPD said the officer was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.
