MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Memphis Zoo is welcoming not one but TWO babies to their zoo family.
The zoo announced Thursday two chicks were born in the African penguin colony.
One chick was born just before the new year Dec. 29. The second hatched Jan. 2. The proud parents are dad, Cameron, and mom, Tulip.
The chicks also have four siblings, Casey, Kelso, Coretta and Lynn.
The new additions bring the total number of penguins at the zoo to 22. they are the 46th and 47th chicks hatched and reared at the zoo.
The Memphis Zoo says the chicks are behind scenes right now but eager announce to zoo fans when they will be on exhibit. Zookeepers hope to determine the sex of the chicks in the next couple of months.
