MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The fifth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Service campaign is Jan. 14 through 18, and Volunteer Memphis has in-person and virtual volunteer opportunities available.
Registration is open at volunteermemphis.org.
All volunteers must adhere to COVID-19 guidelines as set by the Center for Disease control and Prevention including wearing a mask, maintaining social distance, and following guidelines set by local health departments while volunteering.
“Doctor King said, ‘life’s most persistent and urgent question is what are you doing for others?’” said Andrea Hill, director of Volunteer Memphis. “MLK Days of Service asks people to ‘Care Like King’ and volunteer to help themselves and their communities through service.”
MLK Days of Service has dozens of projects available that range from socially distanced outdoor clean ups to virtual webinars to educate people on topics like financial literacy, leadership skills and others.
Some of the biggest area corporations like Nike, Kroger and Special Olympics are joining the cause and will host projects for their employees as part of MLK Days of Service.
Leadership Memphis will also host service project for their employees after completing more than 5,000 hours of service across 10 Mid-South counties last year.
