MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The City of Memphis plans to open a warming center as temperatures drop in the Mid-South.
The warming center will be at the Hollywood Community Center, located at 1560 N. Hollywood Street in North Memphis.
- Friday, January 8, 2021, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Saturday, January 9, 2021, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Sunday, January 10, 2021, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
If you’re seeking shelter, city leaders also encourage people to get assistance from the Memphis Union Mission, located at 383 Poplar Avenue, or the Salvation Army on 696 Jackson Avenue. Call 901-529-4545 for additional local shelters.
Memphis is also offering transportation starting at 6:00 pm. Contact the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) at 901-297-1680 if you need transportation.
City of Memphis implements warming centers so residents dealing with extremely low temperatures can escape after normal business hours for city government buildings.
Warming centers are normally located inside malls, shopping centers, libraries, and community centers. Guest are welcome each night.
