MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Memphis Tigers have been cooling their heels for more than a week with their last two games postponed due to COVID-19 concerns with their opponents.
On Thursday, the American Athletic Conference releases a make-up date for the U of M’s game against UCF.
The Tigers and Knights will meet up in Memphis on February First. It sets up an interesting back to back at FedExForum, with another UCF match here on February 3. Memphis and UCF were supposed to play in Orlando last Tuesday.
This gives the Tigers a 17-day gap between games. Tigers Head Coach Penny Hardaway said there are only two ways to look at it.
“The negative is we could have some rust from not playing an actual game in a long time,” said Penny. “On what we’re doing in the games, you get a lot better. More on the offense because you’re just working three on three and some five on five, but not the same. And on defense the schemes we put in, we get a chance to work on it more and look at it, so that’s a positive from those aspects as well.”
The Tiger’s next game is January 14 vs SMU at FedExForum.
