School employees across Shelby County to get COVID-19 vaccine

COVID-19 vaccine to be provided for school employees as Shelby Co. moves to next phase

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - School leaders at districts across Shelby County are planning COVID-19 vaccine events as the county moves into the next vaccination phase.

Arlington, Millington and Lakeland are holding a joint vaccination event this Friday. Students will learn virtually to allow teachers and staff to get the vaccine. Nearly 800 doses are set aside side for the three districts’ employees.

Arlington High School will serve as the vaccine site, staffed with the districts’ nurses and other staff members as well as employees with the Shelby County Health Department.

Second doses will follow Friday, March 26.

Bartlett is also planning a vaccination event for employees Friday while students learn virtually.

Germantown and Collierville teachers and staff will get their vaccines March 5 at Germantown Baptist Church.

Shelby County Schools opened vaccination appointments to all employees Monday, including charter schools and contract schools. SCS expects to receive about 6,000 Pfizer vaccines and will distribute them at two district sites.

SCS plans to administer about 2,000 vaccines per day Wednesday through Friday. Click here for information on where to go and what to bring.
