MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Southern Christian Leadership Conference will be hosting a day of service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on April 3.
The community will kick off at 10 a.m. at the Southside Park on the corner of South Parkway and Ely Street.
The SCLC says the event is free and includes distribution of food boxes, cases of water, backpacks complete with school supplies, masks and hand sanitizer, keychains, Voter registration and COVID-19 vaccination information.
Anyone that registers to vote will also receive a gift card.
The organization will also have a virtual MLK service during the 11 a.m. church service at Faithful Baptist Church at 1580 Ely Street.
