The new monument commemorates the legacies of two civil rights activists, Medgar and Myrlie Evers, who devoted their lives to ending racial injustice and improving the quality of life for African Americans.
The state’s largest hospital said it has a total of 700 beds and 765 patients. In the Intensive Care Unit, all 92 beds are full, 18 of which have COVID-19 patients. There are 65 additional COVID-19 patients outside the ICU, UMMC says.
The departments says any K-12 teacher, staff, or administrator can be tested for free at the county health department locations below. Testing hours are noon to 7 p.m., and no appointment is necessary.
